Bethany Christian Services has been blessed with the opportunity to work in The People’s Republic of China since the early 1990’s. Our intercountry adoption program has grown to connect over 2,000 Chinese children with their adoptive families. In 2007, Bethany received approval from the Chinese government to provide foster care in orphanages. This particular foster care program is designed to transition children from the orphanage into a loving, family setting.
We currently work in the Luohe City Orphanage in the Henan Province in central-eastern China. This orphanage cares for approximately 150 orphans, all with special needs. Our foster care program helps to identify and train foster parents while transitioning children into a safe, family setting. In addition to receiving basic needs, it is our hope and prayer that these children also learn to love and be loved. The foster families have access to physicians, physical therapists and ongoing resources. With the additional care and resources, we believe these children will become “adoptable” or will have a foster family to call their own.
Bethany has been working with twenty special needs children, seeing them make great progress in loving foster families; however we would like to work with at least 60 more of these beautiful children. Supporting a child in a foster family for a year costs $750. Moving sixty additional children into foster families plus caring for the current twenty children means Bethany needs to receive $60,000 in gift revenue. Will you help us accomplish this goal?
